Alice in Wonderland

On May 4th, we celebrate the birthday of Alice Liddell, the girl who inspired the writer Lewis Carroll to create the books “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and its sequel “Through the Looking-Glass”.

Over the years, the Alice books have gained great popularity not only among children and teenagers but also among adults, scholars, and philosophers. Many find in these books a depth hidden from the eyes of children.

Israeli philosopher Dr. Haim Shapira, in his book “Is It Important? Really?” interprets the meaning of life and the essence of self in light of Lewis Carroll’s Alice books.

 

The books, along with animated film adaptations and live-action productions over the years, have also brought about influences and interpretations from fashion designers.

 

Major fashion brands like Dolce & Gabbana have designed collections inspired by Alice.

 

One of the famous productions is that of the renowned Parisian brand
Printemps.
 Following the release of Tim Burton’s cinematic adaptation of Alice’s story,
Printemps reached out to famous fashion designers,
inviting them to bring their interpretations to the world of Alice and showcase them in the famous windows of the brand.

This connection between worlds of content and creativity is what I love.
 I believe that good creation is one that has a story behind it.
That’s what I focus on.

 

And as Uncle Dodo said in the book:
“The best way to explain it is to do it.”
